I Beg Your Pardon?
On February 23rd, a pro-life group called Live Action released a video capturing their undercover investigation of a Wisconsin Planned Parenthood. The goal of their investigation was to discover whether or not the clinic followed sexual assault laws laid out by the state. What they found is repulsive. When a member of Live Action pretended to be a 14 year old girl who was impregnated by her 31 year old boyfriend, Planned Parenthood responded by asking, “So, will he be paying for it then?” Are you out of your gosh darn mind, PP?
Consequently, doctors, legislators, and parents are getting pretty p.o.’d about the whole ordeal and rightfully so. This is not a pro-life/pro-choice debate. This is a question of whether or not young girls are going to be protected from sexual abuse. Planned Parenthood’s response in the video is not uncommon. However, the argument has been made that the employees shown in the videos are simply bad employees and that they do not reflect PP as a whole. I would beg to differ. The Burger King employee who took a bubble bath in the kitchen sink at Burger King and then posted it on YouTube was a bad employee. The Planned Parenthood employees from across the country who are showing a trend throughout PP of not reporting sexual abuse to authorities are not simply "bad employees.
Live Action has a multitude of investigations posted on their website from places like Tucson, Arizona, Phoenix, Arizona, Memphis, Tennessee, Birmingham, Alabama, Bloomington, Indiana, and Indianapolis. If they are just bad employees, then that’s a whole lot of bad employees and a whole lot of luck on Live Action’s side to get at least one bad employee for every single investigation they have attempted.
