RighTV
Update: Comcast has stated that they have not acquired RightNetwork and that they have no immediate plans to carry the RightNetwork channel, though they have talked to the right-wing media company.
Comcast has acquired RightNetwork, a media company which aims to "entertain, engage, and enlighten Americans who are looking for content that reflects and reinforces their perspective and worldview." The network will be airing on tv, the internet, and mobile devices sometime this summer.
This is certainly an interesting concept and it will be even more interesting to see if it actually works. Some of the shows like "Right to Laugh" and "Running" look entertaining. "Right to Laugh" is a stand-up comedy show that features right-leaning comedians whereas "Running" is a reality show about half-a-dozen or so individuals running for Congress. The third show which is advertised is called "Politics and Poker" and seems to be essentially what it sounds like: people playing poker while discussing politics. While parts of the trailer for "Politics and Poker" were humorous, I'm not certain I could watch it for more than 5 minutes, let alone on a recurring basis. The trailer seemed heavily scripted, but it's not clear if this show will be a scripted sitcom or just random people doing what the show implies. Either way, I'm count me highly skeptical about this show.
Check out the amusing teaser for the network by Kelsey Grammar below. You can find more information at the RightNetwork website: www.rightnetwork.com
