- Sledding on SLAYTER HILL
Slayter Hill has undeniably become a universal part of Purdue’s campus. There are so many activities that take place on the Hill during the summer months like presentations and concerts. This winter has been awfully weary and harsh to students but what better way to beat winter and it’s seasonal depression than sledding? Slayter Hill is never closed and it’s free so get some friends together and don’t forget to wear your fleece!
- Ice Skating at Riverside Skating Center
West Lafayette is a college town and there are just as many things to do in the city as there are on campus. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know how, go ice skating! It’s a fun pastime activity especially when you have the right people around you. For more information in regards to pricing and facility hours, visit the West Lafayette city website: http://www.westlafayette.in.gov
- STAY INSIDE
Stay inside your dorm/residence hall/apartment with some friends and watch movies and drink hot chocolate. Play some games together and relax. The Union also has space to chill with your friends as you get warm by the fireplace.
- Learn How To Take The Bus
It’s free… we all take the buses for granted sometimes. If you don’t know the routes, there are several apps you can download to help you figure them out. One weekend, jump on a random bus and see where it takes you.
- Try to CATCH A SHOW in one of the theaters on campus
The flyers in the Stewart Center have been up since the first day of class and it’s impossible to not see a magazine with showtimes. Take a peek and see who’s making their round to Purdue. Live bands, orchestras, comedians, activists and motivational speakers visit our campus every year, you’re bound to catch a few of them during your time here.
- Hit the COREC
We all know how REC-less the holidays are. They’re so REC-less we won’t even talk about it for too long. What I’m trying to say here is go work out. New Year’s resolutions are still going strong so don’t lose the motivation to lose those extra pounds you gained over break. No shame, no more REC-lessness this year!
- OR…… relax and recover!
Look, I get it. First semesters are kind of weird and not so good more often than not. Take it easy this winter season and relax when you can and recover. It’s not a bad thing to take time out for yourself.
